TRainCom® HST
The increasing demand for passenger communication services,
particularly among business travellers, as well as ever-increasing
security requirements, especially in high-speed train applications, are
among the main drivers that led to the dedicated TRainCom® HST systems.
Based on quick handover mechanisms, TRainCom® HST systems can maintain
a continuous data link between trackside radio base stations and
vehicles running at speeds up to 500 km/h. This broadband and
full-duplex link of up to 16 Mbps (16 Mbps per up- and downlink)
supports all IP-based data services and would enable new options in
train diagnostics and maintenance, passenger entertainment, and online
ticketing applications.
Whereas other commercial radio systems and even mobile phone system (like WiFi, GSM-R, TETRA, GSM and UMTS) are either intended for stationary use or limited for low speed application or at least affected by performance degradation, TRainCom® radio systems feature a widely speed immunity.
Whereas the TRainCom® MT radio system is designed for usual metropolitan train speeds up to about 160 km/h, the TRainCom® radio systems for high speed train applications (TRainCom® HST) are designed to achieve a constant data rate up to 32 Mbps, even at speeds up to 500 km/h and in difficult environments such as tunnels or cuttings.
