The system concept of TRainCom
® HST supports simultaneous
transmission of multiple data services in a single radio link – called
“integrated radio system concept”, without any interference between
those data services.
However, there are different types of data services – some data services that are absolutely essential or vital for train operation,
whereas others have a rather more limited relevance for the operation (non-vital character).
With respect to operational safety aspects and according to customer requirements TRainCom
® features built-in quality of service (QoS) procedures with
traffic-shaping mechanisms that can handle different data services
(applications) at several individual priority levels.
This prioritization process along with predefined bandwidth allocation
and reservation guarantees hassle-free system operation of
mission-critical applications, but also
improves overall system stability as well by avoiding data overflows.
The implemented Quality of Service (QoS) procedures can provide a
certain level of performance where service guarantees are important and
network capacity is limited. Especially real-time applications, which
require a fixed bit rate and/or are sensitive to delays, benefit from
such TRainCom features (Result: low delays/latency, low jitter and no
packet loss).
Operator advantages:
-
True quality of service mechanisms
- Definition of different data service priority levels
- Safety-critical and sensitive data are handled at highest priority levels
- Traffic-shaping features enable guaranteed bandwidth availability
- Predefined bandwidth allocation for specific data services
- Improved system stability by prioritization and bandwidth reservation
- Centralized QoS policy generation
