Radio system at the Transrapid test facility Emsland (TVE, Transrapid Versuchsanlage Emsland)

The Transrapid test facility and test track in northern part of Germany was established during the 1980’s. It is used to develop and qualify the innovative MAGLEV transportation technology. Already from the beginning TELEFUNKEN (at that time called AEG) was involved for provisioning of suitable radio communications by an early mmW system. At the end of 2002, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVBW) decided to modify and upgrade this test facility according the same technical standard like in the Shanghai MAGLEV project.

TELEFUNKEN RACOMS has been contracted to upgrade and supply the corresponding TRainCom® mmW radio system, as foreseen also in the Shanghai MAGLEV project. All technical improvements were successfully implemented within a short time schedule. Since this modernisation process the Transrapid test facility Emsland (TVE) features a radio system with the same technical standard like the one operated in Shanghai.
