Due to its simple accessibility on the air interface, each radio communication system must be well protected against activities of users not part of the system. Regardless of whether they are intended nor unintended, the radio system has to be protected against attacks like fraud, intrusion, blocking and all other forms of unwanted offences that may occur.

Systems based on commercial radio equipment with an open architecture and a standardized air interface have a considerable high risk here and should therefore be extremely well protected against any manipulation.

In good contrast, TRainCom^® radio components use their own air interface definition (e.g. modulation scheme and radio protocols) to simply eliminate most of these risks already at a basic level. Nevertheless, TRainCom^® radio systems also use implemented firewall mechanisms along with IP/MAC layer filtering and network authorization processes, as well as data encryption methods.
